Description
Rectory Farmhouse and Rectory Farmhouse South is a detached farmhouse, now divided, with origins in the 17th century and subsequent modifications. It is constructed of local lias stone, squared and cut, with Ham stone dressings. The roof is tiled, with Roman clay tiles between coped gables, and features a ball finial to the south side. There are brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and has five bays. Most windows are horizontal bar casements, although the upper bays 1 and 2 contain small panes. Lower windows, except for the one in bay 5, have timber lintols; the window in bay 5 has a voussoired segmental-arched head. A window in the lower bay 3 is offset to balance a door situated between bays 2 and 3. This door is set within a moulded four-centre archway with incised spandrils and a square label. An additional plain bay was added to the north of bay 5, and bay 5 itself is likely an addition. The interior was not inspected, but the outer room of the original farmhouse has a nine-bay chamfered bead ceiling. To the rear, there is an ovolo-mould mullioned window and doorway.
