Description

The Thatch is a semi-detached cottage, likely dating from the 18th century. It is constructed from roughly cut and squared local lias stone, with a thatched roof featuring abutments, and brick chimney stacks. The cottage originally had two storeys and three bays. Most of the windows are small horizontal bar casement windows, with three lights above and four lights below, all set beneath timber lintols. The lower bay to the right has a six-light sash window with a decorative, segmental arched head. A projecting stone porch with a thatched roof and a 19th-century panelled door, was added in the late 20th century. A single-bay extension on the north gable features a three-light window below and a rendered panel above, topped by a double Roman clay tile roof with a plain verge. Later 20th-century extensions to the rear include a two-storey thatched extension and a single-storey lean-to with a corrugated asbestos cement roof. The interior remains unseen.
