Description

This is a cottage forming part of a row, likely dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from local lias stone, cut and squared, with a double Roman clay tile roof punctuated by coped gables and brick end chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and features three bays. The windows are small-paned casements; the upper windows are two-light designs, while the lower windows are three-light, set beneath timber lintols. The lintol above the lower bay cuts into what was previously a window label. A boarded door is set within a heavy, moulded frame in the lower bay, and is sheltered by an early 20th-century timber and tiled pitched roof hood supported by brackets. A likely 19th-century window is set into a partially blocked larger opening, suggesting it may have once been a shop window. A further doorway, located two metres to the right of the present door, is also blocked. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is attached to the south side of Primrose Cottage, and the adjacent cottage to the north is not of particular architectural interest.
