Description

Lantern Cottage is probably an 18th-century detached cottage located on the east side of High Street in Queen Camel. It is constructed of roughly cut and squared local lias stone with a thatched roof and brick chimney stacks. The cottage is L-shaped, with the rear elevation set at a lower level. It has two storeys and two bays. It features small-pane casement windows with two lights, some set within small thatched square bays. A projecting stone and thatched porch with a part-glazed door sits between the bays. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected.

In front of the house, approximately five metres away, stands a boundary wall approximately 600mm high, built of Keinton stone pianks. A 20th-century metal gate with wooden posts is positioned in the centre of the wall. This wall is a rare survival in the village, contributing to the setting of the house and the streetscape.
