Description
Hillview House is an early 19th-century house located on Cliff Street in Cheddar. The building is rendered and features a low-pitched hipped slate roof with wide eaves and brick stacks. It has a symmetrical façade with two storeys and three bays. The first floor is adorned with 15-pane sash windows, while the ground floor has French windows with marginal lights, and a late 19th-century blind above each window. A central gable porch, added in the 20th century, is designed in a classical style and includes a three-quarter glazed door, a semi-circular head inner door opening, a six-panelled door, and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars. Inside, the house features fluted plaster cornices in the hall and the left and right ground floor rooms. The right ground floor room includes a fluted marble fireplace, although the grate is missing, and there is a co-eval staircase.
