Description
Magnolia House, Millstream House, The Hall, and The Side Wing is a manor house that has been divided into four separate dwellings. It was built in the early 18th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century and further work in the 20th century. The building is roughcast with a slate roof, featuring a parapet with plain coping that rises as a coped verge on two projecting gabled wings. There is an additional gable over the central three bays, with stone urn finials at the apex of each gable and on the kneelers of the outer gables.
The house has two pairs of tall ashlar stacks set diagonally to the right and two tall roughcast stacks on the left return, all with moulded caps. Decorative rainwater heads are located on each side of the central bays. The structure is arranged in a U shape with two bays on the left, five in the center, and one on the right. It features 12-pane sash windows in plain stone surrounds with cornice dripmoulds, and late 19th-century six-pane windows in similar surrounds on each gable. Each projecting wing has an inner return of one bay that conforms to this style.
The central door is set in a plain stone surround and features a 20th-century panelled door with a transom light that has 20th-century glazing bars arranged in a radiating pattern. There is a Venetian window on the left return and a 20th-century outshut on the right return. The interior retains features from the 18th century.
