Description
The Baptist Chapel, dated 1831, is a rendered building designed to resemble ashlar. It features end pilasters, a moulded cornice, and a slate roof with a parapet that has an elaborate central section topped by a fielded stone plaque inscribed with "BAPTIST CHAPEL," flanked by stone scrollwork and a decorated pediment, along with a plain band below. The symmetrical, two-storey frontage consists of three bays, with the central bay slightly projecting forward. It has semi-circular headed 20-pane fixed-light windows with Gothic glazing. Above the central window is a datestone marked "1831." The central door opening has paired three-panelled doors and is framed by a pedimented portico supported by two plain square piers and Corinthian pilasters on the wall. The returns of the building each have two bays with semi-circular headed windows. A late 19th-century wing at right angles to the right return is not included in this listing.
