Description

The Old School House is a 17th-century cottage located on the west side of Higher Street in West Chinnock. It is constructed of roughly cut and squared local stone with Ham stone dressings, featuring coped gables and a thatched roof. The cottage has two storeys and two bays. The ground floor windows are 3-light mullioned casements with ovolo mouldings and labels above. Above them are leaded casement windows partly set into the thatch. A later leaded casement window is located to the right of the ground floor. A doorway with a heavy frame and exposed timber lintel sits between the bays. Brick chimney stacks are visible at the ends. An unnamed house attached to the south side is not included in the listing.
