Description

Homestead is a 17th-century cottage located on the west side of Rivar Road in Shalbourne. The building is timber framed, with an external render and a thatched roof. It is single-storey with an attic and consists of two bays featuring gable stacks, with the gable facing the road. There is an additional bay extending to the left. The cottage has a timber door and timber windows with leaded glazing. The roof is half hipped on the right, hipped over the left extension, and features a swept design over one dormer. Inside, the cottage has timber framed partitions, a chamfered spine beam, and a fire lintel with small ogee stops.
