Description

Littlecourt is a cottage dating from the 16th century, located on the west side of Shalbourne River Road. It features a timber frame with brick noggings and a thatched roof. The building is single-storey with an attic and consists of three bays, with the gable facing the road. The entrance is in the bay closest to the road, opposite the stack. The frame has three panels high on brick sills. The door is part-glazed oak, and there are oak windows with leaded glazing. A fourth bay was added to the rear in 1937 as an upgrade to a lean-to woodshed. The thatch is half-hipped and sweeps over three dormers. Inside, there are heavy chamfered spine beams with stepped run-out stops, ties on jowled posts, and a queen strut and clasped purlin roof.
