Description
No. 48 is a cottage located on Higher Street in West Chinnock, likely dating from the 18th century and modified over time. It is constructed from local stone that has been cut and squared, featuring Ham stone quoins and dressings. The roof is covered with Bridgwater patent triple angle clay tiles and has brick chimney stacks at each end. The cottage is two stories high and has three bays. On the ground floor, there are four-light hollow chamfered mullioned windows without labels in the first and third bays, with a boarded and studded entrance door situated between them. This door is framed heavily and has an exposed timber lintel, protected by a stone slab hood supported by wrought iron brackets. Above, there are three-light timber casement windows with a single horizontal glazing bar.
