Description

This is a cottage, likely originating in the 16th century. It was originally comprised of several units, and includes a projecting former barn. The building is constructed of local stone rubble with Bridgwater patent triple angle clay tiles to the gables and brick chimney stacks. It is a one-storey building with an attic, encompassing nine bays, where bays one and two probably represent a former barn. The windows are a mix of one, two, and three-light casement windows, some with single horizontal glazing bars, all with exposed timber lintels. A boarded entrance doorway is set within a heavy frame, also with an exposed timber lintel, located in bay five. Dormers are visible in the roof, with one in bay two, and raked dormers to bays three, five, six, and seven. An unpublished report from 1981 mentions the interior contains a variety of raised and jointed cruck trusses, darkened by smoke, and three fireplaces.
