Description
This building consists of three shops owned by Binns and Boroughbridge Laundry, located on the north side of Fishergate at the corner of Market Square. It dates from the 18th century and features simple 19th-century shop fronts with pilasters and cornices, except for one entrance that is from the 20th century. The structure is made of rendered brick and has dentilled eaves, topped by a pantile roof. It is two storeys high, with each shop comprising one bay that includes a Yorkshire sash window with a squat 16-pane design. The corner shop has two modern casement windows facing Fishergate and three irregular bays facing Market Square, which includes a two-storey canted bay with 20th-century glazing and a glazed door. A pent extension to the west in Fishergate is not of interest. This building has group value with the cottages in Market Square and R S Wilson Antiques on High Street.
