Description

Rostlea Upholstery and C.C. Racing are two shops located on the south side of Fishergate in Boroughbridge. They date from the late 18th century to early 19th century and are constructed of brick with a colour-washed finish. The buildings feature stepped and dentilled eaves and have a Welsh slate roof with varying heights.

Rostlea Upholstery consists of five bays and includes a carriage entrance on the right. The shop has an early 20th-century front, while the entrance on the left features a wooden doorcase with an open pediment, attached columns, and decorative paterae in the frieze. The entrance has a six-panel door and a fanlight above. The upper section has sash windows with late 19th-century glazing, splayed rendered heads, and stove cills.

C.C. Racing has two bays and displays a shop front from the 19th or early 20th century, which includes pilasters, brackets, and a cornice. The windows have arched lights, and above them are sash windows with glazing bars. This building is included partly for its group value with the Crown Hotel located opposite.
