Description

This is a late 18th or early 19th century shop and dwelling located on Bicester Market Square. The building has rendered and limestone-rubble walls, and a Welsh-slate roof with brick end stacks. It consists of a main range and a rear wing, with an adjoining carriage entry. The three-storey front is rendered and rusticated at ground level, with roughcast above, stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, and flanking vertical strips. The first and second floor windows are 12-pane and 9-pane sashes respectively, set within stone sills on moulded brackets. The right-hand side of the ground floor incorporates a tripartite sash window and a four-panel door with an overlight. The left-hand side has a 19th-century shop front with two large canted bay windows linked by a fascia and a molded cornice. The right corner of the front is rounded and returns to the rubble rear wing. A small rendered extension projects over the double-doored vehicular entry on the right, with a 12-pane sash window and an old plain-tile roof. The interior remains uninspected.
