Description

The Post Office and former annexe to the Three Greyhounds Hotel is a single building from the early 19th century, possibly incorporating earlier materials. The central section and the left wing are currently disused, while the Post Office occupies the right wing. The building is made of brick and was originally entirely covered in stucco, but the centre and left wing have now been stripped. It features a hipped Welsh slate roof, which has been renewed for the Post Office, and a wooden eaves cornice.

The structure is three stories high with a three-bay central section that has a pediment, flanked by three-bay wings. The ground floor has undergone 20th-century remodelling. The windows are sash style with wide splayed lintels. On the south side, there is an entrance with a six-panel door and a decorated radial fanlight, which has been damaged at the apex due to the building's derelict condition. There are two Yorkshire sashes and additional sash windows above, all featuring glazing bars. A boarded-up canted bay is also present. The building has dentilled eaves on the sides and rear. It occupies a prominent position, visually closing Fishergate, and has group value with The Crown Hotel.
