Description
R S Wilson and Sons House Furnishers is a former shop that was originally a house, located on High Street in Boroughbridge. The building is constructed of brick and has a rendered finish. It features stepped and dentilled eaves and a high-pitched pantile roof with a chimney at the ridge. The structure is two storeys tall and has four bays.
The entrance on the left has a wooden doorcase with an open pediment, reeded pilasters, and decorative paterae in the friezes. The entrance includes a half-glazed door and a radial fanlight. On either side of the entrance, there are modillion bows with sash windows that have glazing bars. To the right, there is a shop front dating from around 1970. The first floor has sash windows with glazing bars set in flush wood architraves. The windows to the right, above the shop front, are of a squatter proportion and likely date from the 19th century, corresponding to the Victorian shop front that this one replaced. The building also features stone cills.
