Description
Whitethorn Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse located on the north side of Fairy Lane in Cropton. It is constructed of dressed sandstone with ashlar quoins and sits on a plinth, topped with a pantile roof. The building features a central-stairhall plan that is one and a half rooms deep, with a rear service wing. The front elevation is two stories high and has three windows. It includes a six-panel door with an overlight and 16-pane sash windows with painted stone sills. All openings have painted lintels, and the gables are coped with end stacks. On the left side, the rear wing has small-pane tripartite sashes on both floors, also with painted sills and lintels. Inside, the rear kitchen features a segment-arched fireplace surround made of ashlar voussoirs and beaded jambs, along with a beaded cross beam and joists.
