Description

No. 12 Northgate is a house dating from the early 18th century, which has been raised and altered later. It features whitewashed chalk with stone quoins at the base and brick quoins above, topped with a pantile roof and brick stacks. The house has a central staircase plan and is one room deep. It is 1½ storeys tall with a two-window front. The central entrance has a half-glazed door with a divided overlight. To the left is a 16-pane sash window, and to the right is a 4-pane sash window, both with header brick arches. The upper storey has two small, 4-pane fixed light windows. The building is finished with a stepped brick eaves course and has end stacks.
