Description
Chestnut House is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid to late 18th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of coursed squared chalk, which is now whitewashed, and sits on a stone plinth. The building features stone quoins, a pantile roof, and brick stacks. It has a central stairhall plan that is one and a half rooms deep, with a rear service extension. The front is symmetrical with two storeys and three windows. The central entrance has a six-panel door with a divided overlight above it. The ground floor windows are sashes, while the first floor has 16-pane sashes. All windows are fitted with stone sills, and all openings have flat, gauged brick arches. The left gable is coped with a plain kneeler, and there are stacks at each end.
