Description
Batworth Cottage is a house dating from 1694, as indicated by the datestone. The building has been raised, subdivided, and altered over time. It is constructed of whitewashed chalk and brick, topped with a pantile roof and rendered stacks. The cottage is two stories high with a three-window front. The quoins are irregular and painted. There are plain 20th-century doors to the left and right of the center, separated by a 16-pane sash window, with similar windows at each end of the building. The first floor features 20th-century 12-pane unequal sashes. All windows have stone sills, and the ground floor openings are topped with thin timber lintels. The gables are coped, with shaped kneelers and end stacks. The datestone above the door to the right is inscribed with the initials I:C R:K and the year 1694.
