Description
No. 57 High Street is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble sandstone and features a pantile roof with brick stacks, one of which has been rebuilt. The house has a central-entry plan and is one room deep, consisting of a single storey with an attic. The front has two windows, with a door made up of four recessed, shaped panels that is approached by steps. This door is flanked by two-light large-pane casements, and there is a fire window at the end on the right. The attic features flat-topped dormers with casements. The ground-floor windows have stone sills and thin timber lintels above all openings. There are end stacks on either side of the house. This building is included for its group value.
