Description

No. 49 High Street is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century, with a later extension. The front and right side are constructed of hammer-dressed sandstone, while the left side is made of coursed sandstone rubble. The roof is covered with pantiles and features rebuilt brick stacks. The building is two stories high with an attic and has a three-window front. The central door consists of four recessed panels and is topped by an overlight, all set within a plain door-case that has a bracketed cornice hood. The windows on the ground and first floors are 12-pane sashes with stone sills and flat arches. There are two gabled dormers in the attic. The house has coped gables and shaped kneelers, with stacks at each end.
