Description
No. 6 Chestnut Avenue is a house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of squared sandstone with a pantile roof and has been fitted with rebuilt brick stacks. The house features a central staircase plan, is one room deep, and includes an outshut. It has two low storeys and a two-window front. The central entrance is a 20th-century part-glazed door, flanked by three-light, small-pane horizontal sliding sash windows. The first floor has similar two-light windows. All windows have painted stone sills, and the ground floor openings are topped with heavy painted chiselled lintels, while the first floor has timber lintels. There are end stacks. This building is included for its group value.
