Description
The Buck Inn is a house and butcher's shop that has been incorporated into a public house. It dates from the 18th century and is attached to a late 19th-century house. The building is constructed from coursed sandstone rubble and has a pantile roof. It stands two storeys high with an attic and features a four-window front. There is a plank door located to the centre right, with an 8-pane former shop window to the left, both of which have timber lintels. To the left, there are two 16-pane sash windows, and on the first floor, there are four 12-pane sash windows, all with flat arches and painted stone sills. A Sun Insurance firemark is located between the first-floor windows to the left. The building has a stepped eaves course and two 19th-century gabled dormers with plain bargeboards in the attic. The gables are coped and have shaped kneelers. The 19th-century part of the public house is not of special interest, but the building is included for its group value.
