Description

Rockingham House is a late 18th-century house situated in Thornton Dale, Whitbygate. The front is constructed of dressed sandstone with painted raised and chamfered quoins; the left gable wall is rendered. It has a pantile roof. The house follows a central stairhall plan, with one room depth, and a rear service extension. The symmetrical three-window front has a central 20th-century door flanked by 12-pane sashes; replacement 8-pane sashes are on the first floor. All openings have triple keystone lintels and painted stone sills to windows. A Yorkshire Insurance firemark is positioned above the first-floor centre window. The house features a cavetto moulded eaves course, coped gables, shaped kneelers, and end stacks.
