7/40 Stables approximately 20 metres to north of 31.3.70 Hornby Grange (forulerly listed with Coach House)

Stables. 1767 with later alterations. Red brick in English garden wall bond with graduated stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 8 bays. Central 2 bays break forward. Large board double carriage doors to each bay with semicircular radial panelling above under brick arch, stepped ashlar impost band. To right a hall-glazed door with overlight, to its right a 20-pane casement window with stone sill and flat brick arch. To right again a large C20 carriage opening. To left of central 2 bays a large carriage opening breaks forward slightly with slate sloping roof. To its left a board door with overlight and flat brick arch. To left again, a 20-pane casement window with stone sill and flat brick arch. First floor: all windows have flat brick arches and stone sills, 3 left-hand bays have 12-pane side- sliding sashes, others with 12-pane casements. Dentilled eaves band. Central 2 bays have a dentilled pediment. Roof hipped.
