Description
East House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick with a pantile roof. The main block is two storeys with attics, consisting of five bays. Attached to the right is a two-bay, single-storey wing, and to the left, a lower two-storey, single-bay wing with a single-storey, single-bay wing beyond. The main entrance is a central six-panel door set within a large, 20th-century brick porch with a pantile roof. All windows are 18-pane sashes with stone sills and flat brick arches. A plain eaves band runs along the top of the walls. Three segmentally pedimented dormers are visible on the roof; the outer dormers have three-light casements, while the central one has a two-light casement. The roof features shaped kneelers and stone coping, with end stacks. The right wing has two 18-pane sashes with stone sills, stone coping, and an end stack to the right. The left wing has a six-panel door with an overlight containing diamond-shaped glazing bars, a double sash with glazing bars to the left, an eight-pane side-sliding sash on the first floor, and an end stack on the left. The outer right wing has a 20-pane casement window.
