Description

Nos 48 and 49 are a pair of cottages dating from around 1800, with 20th-century alterations and extensions. They are constructed of squared limestone, featuring a brick eaves course, a pantile roof, and brick stacks, one of which has been rebuilt. The cottages are two stories high and have a four-window front, with a single-storey lean-to extension on the left and a single-storey outbuilding on the right.

No 48 has a central door from the 20th century and large-pane casements throughout. No 49 also has a 20th-century central door, flanked by two-light, 24-pane horizontal sliding sashes, with two-light, 24-pane casements on the first floor. All windows have painted stone sills, painted wedge lintels over the ground-floor openings, and painted timber lintels above the first-floor windows. The outbuilding to the right features a board door. There are stacks at both ends and in the center. No 48 is included for its group value.
