Description
Numbers 23 and 24 are a pair of cottages dating from around 1800, with later extensions and 20th-century remodelling. They are constructed from squared limestone with a brick eaves course and have a pantile roof featuring brick stacks, one of which has been rebuilt. The original layout was a central-entry plan, 1.5 rooms deep, with 20th-century rear extensions added.
The cottages are two stories high and have a four-window front, flanked by single-storey lean-to outbuildings. The corners of the building feature irregular quoins. The entrance to number 23 is a four-panel door located on the left, while number 24 has a 20th-century board door on the right. Number 23 has renewed two-light, 24-pane casement windows, and number 24 features two-light, 24-pane horizontal sliding sashes. All windows have painted stone sills and painted wedge lintels above the ground-floor openings. There are end and centre stacks, and the 20th-century extension to the rear is not of special interest. At the time of the resurvey, number 23 was unoccupied.
