Description

Numbers 49 and 50 are a pair of estate cottages built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, with a stone slate roof on the front pitch and concrete tiles at the rear. There are 20th-century extensions at the back that are not of special interest. Each cottage has a symmetrical facade and stands one and a half storeys high. The first floor features four half dormers, each with 2-light stone-mullioned casements. The ground floor has four 2-light stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods. Number 49 has a part-glazed door from the 20th century, while Number 50 has a 19th-century plank door with a flat canopy supported by moulded brackets. Both cottages have gable-end and axial stacks set on plinths, all topped with moulded cappings. The gable ends and dormers have flat coping. The property is linked by coursed squared and dressed limestone walls approximately 2 meters high, which connect Number 49 to Number 48 and Number 50 to Number 53. The interior has not been inspected. This property is owned by the National Trust.
