Description

A pair of semi-detached estate cottages dating from the mid-19th century, located in Sherborne village. The cottages are constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with a concrete tile roof. They have a long, rectangular plan and a two-storey, five-window facade. The first floor has two-light, double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements. The ground floor features single-light and two- and three-light stone-mullioned casements, each with stopped hoods. All casements are likely original and feature closely spaced glazing bars. Modern part-glazed front doors are in place. Flat canopies with moulded margins are supported by moulded brackets. The roof has a continuous outshut at the rear, along with an axial stack and gable-end stacks, all with moulded cappings. Flat coping defines the gable ends. The interior has not been inspected. To the left of the cottages is a wall, approximately 3 metres high, built of coursed squared and dressed limestone, which runs up to the wall along the south side of the street.
