Description
The boundary wall and gateway, likely built in the early 19th century, runs from the War Memorial to No 51 on the south side of Sherborne Village. It is constructed of thin-bedded coursed limestone with rounded cement capping. The wall features an entrance to the school and a field gate that break its continuous line. Generally, the wall stands about 1.75 meters high from road level. It serves as an important street element, creating a continuous boundary along the south side of the street, opposite many cottages, and linking the War Memorial at the west end with the outbuildings near No 51.
