Description

The Gables is a detached house built in the early 19th century. It features coursed squared and dressed limestone with a stone slate roof and 19th-century ashlar stacks. The house has a 'T'-shaped plan and is symmetrical with one and a half stories. The facade has three windows, with three half dormers above that contain two-light steel casements on the first floor. The ground floor has two three-light steel casements, all set within splayed surrounds and topped with stopped hoods. There is a band between the floors and a central 20th-century glazed door with a glazed hall-light above. The shallow stone-built porch has a flat roof with a moulded margin. To the right of the main body, there is a single-storey extension with a hipped roof. The gable ends have stacks on plinths with moulded cappings, and the gables and dormers feature flat coping and moulded kneelers. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
