Description
Stones Farm is a detached farmhouse built in 1818 by Richard Pace of Lechlade, with later extensions. The building features coursed squared and dressed limestone and a stone slate roof with ashlar stacks. Originally designed in a 'U'-shaped plan, it has a later 19th-century lean-to infill within the former courtyard. A bread oven projects from the rear left-hand gable. The farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, which is lit by two 2-light hipped roof dormers with glazing bars. The symmetrical facade has three windows, with 12-pane sashes on the first floor and 16-pane sashes below, all set within plain architraves that have recessed tympanums. The central entrance consists of a 6-panel door with a hall-light above, situated within a shallow porch that features a triangular pediment supported by Doric columns. There is a band above the first floor windows. The building also includes three-light stone-mullioned casements, mostly with horizontal glazing bars, and some with likely original leaded panes. The hipped roof has projecting stacks at the gable ends and axial stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
