Description
Sherborne Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring a combination of stone slate and red tile roofing, along with ashlar stacks. The building has a basically rectangular plan consisting of two blocks that are roofed at slightly different levels, with a former wash house positioned at right angles to the north gable end.
The farmhouse stands at 2½ storeys and has an entrance front facing the road with a two plus two window arrangement. The first floor is adorned with two-light stone-mullioned windows that have 4-pane sashes, while the ground floor features two and three-light stone-mullioned windows, three of which have relieving arches. All ground floor windows are fitted with 8-pane sashes. There is a part-glazed door from the 19th century located off-centre to the right, which is topped with a flat stone canopy that has a moulded margin and is supported on moulded brackets. Additionally, there is a projecting, flat-roofed stone porch at the right gable end, and the farmhouse has stacks at both gable ends, topped with a parallel ridged roof. The interior has not been inspected. The property is owned by the National Trust.
