Description

The gates, gate piers, and flanking sections of the park wall are located on the east side of the road at the north end of The Causeway in Newburgh. They likely date from the mid-18th century and are constructed from sandstone ashlar for the piers, with rubble walls and wrought-iron gates. The paired gates feature square bars with twisted spear finials and are diagonally braced. There are two cylindrical piers with chamfered bases, moulded tops, and bow-shaped capstones. The flanking walls have ashlar coping; the left wall is approximately 6 metres long and sweeps down to the left halfway along, while the right wall is about 7 metres long and sweeps up about 1 metre from the right end, beyond a square pilaster buttress with a stepped pyramidal cap. Scrolled ironwork is mounted on the flanking side walls at the angles with the cylindrical piers.
