Gilbertson Park, Burgh Road, Lerwick

Gilbertson Park, located on Burgh Road in Lerwick, features classical park gates that were constructed in 1897. The gates consist of two-leaf wrought-iron gates at the center, flanked by square-plan polished ashlar gatepiers. These piers have bases and shafts that are partially fluted, adorned with rusticated banding. Above the piers is a frieze that alternates between triglyphs and medallions, topped with corniced caps featuring ball finials on stepped bases.

On either side of the gates are short lengths of stugged sandstone dwarf walls, which have ashlar coping and wrought-iron railings connecting to the flanking piers, which match the central piers but do not have ball finials. Additionally, there are dwarf quadrant walls that connect to outer piers, which also match the central piers but lack friezes, fluting, and ball finials. To the east of the park, there is a flanking rubble boundary wall with a saddleback coping.
