Description

Castlehill Gates, located on Dalmellington Road in Ayr, date back to the early 19th century. They consist of a pair of arched pedestrian gatepiers that are square in plan, flanking a central vehicular entrance. The gatepiers are made of ashlar and feature keystones above the arches. Atop each gatepier are ball finials, with inner ball-finials on a higher cope. The central entrance has two-leaf iron gates, while the pedestrian entrances have single iron gates. To the left, there is a stepped boundary wall with coped piers, and to the right, railings are positioned atop a curved wing wall.
