Description
The barn at Home Farm, dated 1741, is constructed of rubble sandstone with a pantile roof. It features two internal storeys and five internal bays, with quoins at the corners. The main entrance consists of central leaved board doors set within a segmental-arched opening, which is adorned with pecked voussoirs and has the inscription "AD 1741" on the keystone. Flanking the door are triangular-ended slit vents arranged in two tiers, with five on the lower level and four above. Above these vents, there are five oculi set in dressed stone surrounds. The barn has a tall hipped roof, and the rear includes a lower segmental-arched opening in the center. Inside, the original doors remain, with one door inscribed on the rail "CC 1742". The interior features square-section chamfered tie-beams that are notched for floor joists throughout. The king-post roof trusses appear to be a later alteration.
