Description
Alma House and attached railings is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with mid-19th century alterations and railings. It is built of coursed sandstone and features a concrete interlocking tile roof, along with cast-iron railings. The house has two storeys and three bays, with quoins at the corners. The central entrance has a part-glazed 19th-century six-panel door, which is sheltered by a wooden trellis porch. The windows are 16-pane sash windows with projecting sills and deep lintels on the ground floor. The building has shaped kneelers and ashlar coping, with brick stacks at each end. The railings are set on a low ashlar wall with segmental coping, featuring bars with arrow finials and twisted standards. The gate posts are designed as turned balusters with acanthus bud bases.
