Description
No. 18 Market Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble stone and features a pantile roof with a brick stack at the right end. It has two storeys and an attic, with a two-window front.
The shop front is characterized by pilasters and a cornice, featuring a central half-glazed door with an overlight situated between two plate-glass windows. There is a continuous fascia and cornice above the shop front. To the left of the shop entrance is a six-panel passage door, which also has an overlight and a painted timber lintel. The first-floor windows are single-pane sashes set within architraves, complete with painted sills and wedge lintels. In the attic, there is a gabled dormer that contains a two-light large-pane sliding sash window.
