Description
Forsyth House is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. The front is made of rendered brick, which is mostly covered by ivy, and features raised quoins. The roof is made of pantiles and has a coped gable on the right side. There are brick stacks at each end, one of which has been rebuilt and the other is truncated. The rear wing is constructed of red brick, which was previously painted, and has sandstone quoins and a slate pent roof.
The building has a central-entry plan with a staircase wing at the back. The front has two stories and seven windows. The main entrance features a door with six raised-and-fielded panels and an overlight. A second similar door has been added in what was once a window opening on the center right. All windows are single-pane sashes set above a raised sillband on each floor, and each opening has eared architraves. At the rear, the staircase wing is located on the right side, and there is a round-headed staircase window with radial glazing beneath a semicircular arch made of gauged brick. The staircase inside retains some slender turned balusters.
