Description

No. 15 Market Place is a house that has been converted into an office. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of painted brick in Flemish bond, featuring painted gauged brick arches and a flat timber eaves band. At the rear, there is a wing made of coursed rubble stone. The left gable is coped, with a vestigial kneeler, and the roof is covered with pantiles, topped by a truncated brick stack at the left end.

The front of the building is three stories high with two windows. It has a 20th-century shop front that includes fluted pilasters, a plain entablature, and a moulded cornice, along with a glazed door and overlight situated between small-pane windows. The first and second floors feature 12-pane sash windows in moulded frames, with the first-floor windows being taller and having painted stone sills and keyed flat arches.

At the rear, the wing consists of two low storeys and two windows. There is a blocked doorway at the right end, with a small-pane fixed light to the left, and a 12-pane sash window at the left end beneath a three-light sliding sash. An inserted window is located at the right end of the first floor. Timber lintels are present above all openings.
