Description

Nos. 9, 11, and 13 Market Place are three houses that have been combined into one shop. Nos. 9 and 13 date from the late 18th century and have been altered in the 20th century, while No. 11 was rebuilt in 1977. The fronts of Nos. 9 and 11 are rendered and painted, featuring a timber eaves cornice, while No. 13 is constructed of painted brick in Flemish bond with a stepped eaves course. Nos. 11 and 13 have pantile roofs, whereas No. 9 has a tiled roof. There is gable coping between Nos. 9 and 11, and at the left end of No. 13. A brick ridge stack is located between Nos. 9 and 11, and a double brick stack is between Nos. 11 and 13.

Nos. 9 and 11 have a two-storey-and-attic design with three-window fronts, while No. 13 has a three-storey, one-window front. The continuous shop front for Nos. 9 and 11 features plain pilasters and imposts beneath a plain frieze and moulded cornice. There is a 20th-century door in the center, leading to a former passage entry, with plate glass windows on either side. No. 13 has a similar shop front with a square-arched passage entry at the right end.

On the first floor, No. 9 has single-pane sashes, No. 11 has 12-pane sashes, and No. 13 features a single-pane sash on the first floor and two 8-pane sliding sashes on the second floor. No. 9 has three flat-topped dormers with two 4-pane casements, while No. 11 has a raking dormer with a 3x4-pane casement.
