Three houses, now two shops and flat. Late C17 and early C18, refronted late C19 and altered C20; C20 shopfront to No.19, late C19 shopfront to Nos 21 and 23. Brick front, orange-brown in Flemish bond to No.19, painted to No.21, white-washed stucco to No.23; timber shopfronts; moulded timber eaves frieze and pantile roof to Nos 19 and 21; slate roof to No.23. EXTERIOR: 2-storey front; 2 windows to Nos 19 and 21; 3 windows to No.23, centre one blocked. No.19 has shopfront of plain pilasters with moulded imposts beneath broad fascia terminated by tall grooved brackets; central glazed double doors deeply recessed between plate glass windows over panelled risers. Shopfront to Nos 21-23 has fluted pilasters beneath sloped fascia and moulded cornice between fluted shaped brackets: deeply recessed double doors of moulded panels at left end; shop door in No.21 is half-glazed and panelled; windows are plate glass over moulded panel risers. First floor windows are 1-pane sashes; those to Nos 19 and 21 have cambered heads, square-headed in No.23. Painted sills to Nos 21 and 23. INTERIORS: not inspected. RCHM records early C18 staircase in No.19 with turned balusters, square newels and moulded handrail. No.23 was formerly The Duke of York Public House.
