Description

26 and 28 Walmgate is a house dating from the late 18th century, with later alterations and a 20th-century shopfront. The building is rendered and features a timber shopfront with a pantile roof. The exterior is two stories high with a two-window front. The shopfront includes a glazed door to the left of a two-light plate glass window set above a brick riser, flanked by sunk-panel pilasters. To the left, there is a plate glass shop window supported by fluted pilasters. The first-floor windows are 12-pane sashes with narrow painted sills. A rainwater head on the building is dated 1799. The interior has not been inspected. This property is included for its group value as part of the historic character of Walmgate.
