Description

This is a mid-18th century house with a shop, altered around 1840 and with a late 19th-century shopfront. The exterior is built of buff brick, with the front in Flemish bond and the rear in English garden-wall bond. It has a heavy eaves cornice with modillions and a timber shopfront. The roof is slate, hipped at the front and gabled at the rear. The front of the building has a two-window arrangement over three storeys. The shopfront features plain pilasters, a pent fascia between carved terminal blocks with carved pendant finials, and a recessed, glazed and panelled door with an overlight. Flanking the door are half-canted plate glass windows set over sunk panel risers. The first and second floor windows are 12-pane sashes, taller on the first floor, with stone sills and flat arches of orange brick. A band runs along the second floor. The interior was not inspected.
