Description

Nos 367, 369, and 371 High Street are three houses that have been converted into shops, dating from the early to mid 18th century. The buildings are constructed of painted brick, with a weatherboarded rear, and stand three storeys high, each featuring two bays. The ground floors are unified by a 20th-century shop frontage.

Nos 367 and 369 each have two windows on the first and second floors, consisting of 12-pane sashes, although some glazing bars are missing from the first floor. The second floor has fixed and louvred plate glass replacements, with all window openings set under flat rubbed brick arches. No 371 features pilaster strips and arches with imposts on the first floor only, while the second floor has 12-pane sashes set in reveals. A parapet conceals four hipped roofs, which have separate pitches at right angles to the facade. The rear of the buildings is entirely weatherboarded above a brick basement and includes 16-pane sashes.

Inside, No 367 retains a mid 18th-century dogleg staircase with central newel posts adorned with pendants below, and turned balusters on urn bases. Some cornices, two field panels, and two-panel doors with 'L' hinges are also preserved. The interiors of Nos 369 and 371 have not been seen.
