Description
Nos. 2, 3, and 4 Mart Lane are three houses, one of which used to include a shop. They were built around 1800 and are constructed of brick with a plain tiled roof. The buildings are three stories high with a basement and feature six bays.
No. 2 has a narrow shop front in its left-hand bay, complete with an architrave and cornice above the doorway, as well as projecting square bay windows. Nos. 2 and 3 both have six-panelled doors with overlights set in moulded architraves, and three-light casement windows topped with flat arched stuccoed heads that have stressed voussoirs and keystones.
No. 4 consists of three bays and has a central six-panelled door beneath a canopy porch supported by moulded console brackets. It features 12-pane sash windows with stuccoed flat arched heads that also have stressed keystones. The corners of the building are accentuated by brick pilasters, and there is a dentilled eaves course along the roofline. Gable end stacks are present as well.
